Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has opened a new tea house in Chicago. The café, called Madame Zuzu's Tea House, is located at 582 Roger Williams Avenue in the city's Highland Park area.

Corgan appeared at the shop's grand opening on Thursday offering up free tea and impromptu performances on the shop's 1930's Boserdorfer piano. He spoke on the shop's retro-styling with the Chicago Sun Times:

"I've always been fascinated with that era, the Jazz Age," he said. "There's a weird connection in my mind between the decadence of a certain era and political unrest. Today, people are so disconnected from the political process, but they're updating their Facebook page 27 times a day. There's a lot going on in the country right now, and local discourse is important. It's important for people to talk and get beyond the wall of Facebook and social media."

In the meantime, Corgan is also prepping for his band's upcoming tour behind their new album Oceania.
