"Silver Linings Playbook" took home the People's Choice Award on Saturday during the final day of the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. The film stars Bradley Cooper alongside "Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence.

Based on Matthew Quick's book of the same name, the film features a mentally unstable teacher (Cooper), who moves home with his parents after leaving his job. He soon strikes up a relationship with a young widow (Lawrence).

The film edged out Ben Affleck's "Argo" for the award as well as J.A. Bayona's "The Impossible." The win could put "Silver Linings Playbook" into strong contention for Oscar consideration, says a report from ew.com. Another big winner of the night was "Seven Psychopaths," written and directed by "In Bruges" creator Martin McDonagh.
