The Office for National Statistics is slated to publish U.K. consumer price figures for August at 4:30 am ET. Annual inflation is seen easing to 2.5 percent from 2.6 percent in July.
The pound showed mixed trading ahead of the report. While the sterling edged higher against the euro, it held steady versus the rest of majors. As of 4:25 am ET, the U.K. currency was trading at 0.8057 against the euro, 1.6235 against the dollar, 1.5045 against the Swiss franc and 127.78 against the yen.
