Latvia August Producer Price Inflation Rises

Latvia's producer price inflation quickened in August, after slowing in the previous month, data released by the Central Statistical Bureau showed Friday.

The producer price index increased 2.2 percent annually in August, following the previous month's 2.1 percent rise. In June, priced had increased 2.3 percent.

Producer prices in the domestic market advanced 2.9 percent annually, while prices of products sold in the overseas market grew 1.2 percent.

Mining and quarrying prices climbed 9.7 percent annually, while manufacturing prices advanced 0.6 percent. Costs of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply were higher by 6.8 percent compared to last year.

On a monthly basis, output prices moved up 0.5 percent in August, unchanged from the growth seen in July, the agency said.
