Lady Gaga has been threatened by animal rights activists after wearing fur in a recent appearance. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the decision may incite violence from aggressive animal activists.
"I'm hearing they are going to try and personally attack Gaga — spraying her with paint or even throwing feces at her," the Sun-Times quoted a source close to the activists as saying.
However, the media officer for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) later emailed the Sun-Times, saying that the organization was unaware of any threats against Lady Gage and stressed that "we encourage our members to stick exclusively to nonviolent protests."
"My sources indicated that the threats to Gaga were not made by PETA members or supporters," Sun-Times entertainment columnist Bill Zwecker wrote.
At an event which was part of London's Fashion Week, the Mother Monster showed up wearing a burqa draped in raccoon tails. She was also carrying a handbag that bore the word "c**t" in sequins.
In the past, Gaga has defended her choice to wear fur, saying, somewhat cryptically, "You see a carcass, I see a museum piece de resistance."
In 2009, on the Ellen DeGeneres daytime show, however, she said "I hate fur and I don't wear fur."
