In a lengthy interview with the New York Times, Neil Young says he has quit doing drugs and drinking alcohol. According to the "Harvest Moon" singer, it was time for a change:

"I did it for 40 years. Now I want to see what it's like to not do it. It's just a different perspective." The 66-year-old rocker, who suffers from epilepsy and had a brain aneurysm in 2005, took the advice to quit from his doctor.

Along with his decision, the article featured excerpts from Young's upcoming autobiography, Waging Heavy Peace, in which he recalls some of his past drug experiences, including David Crosby's drug-filled van:

"I still remember 'the mighty Cros' visiting the ranch in his van. That van was a rolling laboratory that made Jack Casady's briefcase look like chicken feed."
