Bob Dylan Second Favorite To Win Nobel Prize For Literature

Bob Dylan has been given the second best chances to win the Nobel Prize for literature by oddsmakers Ladbrokes. Dylan got 10/1 odds, while Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami was given 7/1.

"[Dylan has] been backed from 33/1 into 10/1 thanks to some decent £100-plus bets . . . One of the big bets comes from Norway, the others are UK-based," the betting firm's spokesman Alex Donohue told the Guardian.

In addition to 35 studio albums, Dylan has published Tarantula (1971), a collection of poetry and prose, and his memoirs, Chronicles (2004).

For its part, Ladbrokes does not believe Dylan will bring home the prize, and he faces stiff competition from literary bigs such as Cormac McCarthy and Philip Roth.

Dylan's latest album, Tempest, was released on September 11.
