Maksim Chmerkovskiy Will Stay On 'Dancing With The Stars'

Maksim Chmerkovskiy will reportedly stay on "Dancing With the Stars," says host Tom Bergeron. The professional dancer seemingly announced his separation from the show earlier this month when he said he was hoping to pursue an acting career at the conclusion of his contract in 2013.

The rumor spread following Chmerskovskiy's interview with the New York Post last week:

"What else do I have to do there after 15 seasons? It makes total sense," Chmerkovskiy told the newspaper. "The audience can't expect for me to want to stick around, and the producers can't expect me to want to stick around."

According to Bergeron, however, the quote was printed out of context and Maksim has no plans to depart the show immediately:

"He said that it was taken out of context," Bergeron said. "At the end of his contract, which runs through two more seasons, he's thinking of pursuing acting. . . . He's going to be with us beyond this season."
