Sony Pictures Classics has reportedly signed on to develop an adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder's classic semi-autobiographical tale "Little House on the Prairie." "Pineapple Express" director David Gordon Green has reportedly committed to man the helm while Abi Morgan ("The Iron Lady") will write the script.
The story details Laura's life in a pioneer family on the prairies of the American mid-west in the 1800s. The show ran as a popular television series from 1974 to 1983 and starred Melissa Gilbert as Laura and Michael Landon as her father Charles.
Karen Grassle also appeared as her mother, Caroline "Ma" Ingalls, with Melissa Sue Anderson and twins Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush playing her sisters.
The impressive list of cast and crew is rounded out by producer Scott Rudin, who worked on the hit films "The Social Network" and "No Country for Old Men."
