Heidi Newfield has been named the National Rifle Association's Country Artist of the Month for October. The program celebrates her support of the troops, appreciation for the great outdoors, and gun loving ways.
"Country is much more than the place you were born and raised. To me, it's about having a love for our beautiful land and a respect for this great nation's founding principles. I've been lucky enough to travel across the U.S. and I think it's the best place on earth," Newfield said in a prepared statement.
Previous artists to hold the distinction are Trace Adkins, Rodney Atkins, Lee Brice, Montgomery Gentry, Justin Moore, Craig Morgan, Sunny Sweeney, Gretchen Wilson, Josh Thompson and TV personality Storme Warren.
Fans and interested parties can visit NRA's website for the series of promotional pieces which accompany the award.
