Japan Tertiary Industry Index +0.4% In August

An index measuring tertiary industry activity in Japan was up a seasonally adjusted 0.4 percent on month in August, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said on Friday, standing at 99.1.

That matched forecasts following the 0.8 percent contraction in July.

Among the individual components of the survey, industries that contributed to the increase included wholesale and retail trade, accommodations, scientific research, utilities and amusement services.

Industries that moved lower were transportation, finance, communications, real estate and compound services. Learning support was unchanged.
