Actelion Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (ALIOF.PK) posted nine-month net income of 268.3 million Swiss Francs, as against a loss of 180.7 million Swiss Francs last year. US GAAP earnings per share were 2.26 Swiss Francs, compared with a 1.52 Swiss Francs loss in the prior-year period.
For the first nine months of 2012, core earnings amounted to 465.8 million Swiss Francs, higher than 388.9 million Swiss Francs a year ago, representing a 13% increase in local currencies. Excluding the movement in the doubtful debt provision, the growth was 7 % in local currencies. Core earnings, excluding doubtful debt provision or DDP, were up 7% in local currencies to 443.6 million Swiss Francs.
Core earnings per share for the period amounted to 3.25 Swiss Francs, up 24 % from 2.61 Swiss Francs for the same period in 2011.
Nine-month total product sales were 1.30 billion Swiss Francs, down by 3% in local currencies, while the prior year's product sales totaled 1.29 billion Swiss Francs.
