John Clive, the voice actor behind John Lennon's character in the classic Beatles' animated film Yellow Submarine, is dead at the age of 79.
Clive, who acted in many films over his career, was featured alongside Michael Caine in the 1969 flick The Italian Job; he also played one of the medical experts torturing Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange.
On stage, Clive appeared at London's West End in numerous productions. He acted as the scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz and in Tom Stoppard's production of The Real Inspector Hound.
According to the Daily Mail, Clive had something of a second career as a writer, publishing the fiction best seller KG200 along with other titles such as The Last Liberator and Barossa.
No cause of death was given for Clive.
