House prices in the Netherlands continued to decline at a steady pace, data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Land Registry showed Monday.

The average price of existing homes sold to private individuals in September was 7.9 percent lower than that a year earlier. The latest decline was broadly unchanged from the 8 percent fall recorded in August and July.

Prices of single family homes decreased at a slightly slower rate of 8 percent annually in September than 8.1 percent in August. Apartment prices decreased 7.8 percent year-on-year, after falling 7.5 percent in the previous month, data showed.

At the same time, the number of home purchase transactions decreased to 7,143 in September from 8,384 in the previous month, the agency said.
