The new Rolling Stones documentary, Crossfire Hurricane, is set for DVD/Blu-Ray release in the U.S. in early January 2013. The documentary follows the band's career from their early days in the 1960s up to their heyday in the early 70s. The rockumentary even shoots ahead to the present day.

The doc's director Brett Morgen told NME that it "invites the audience to experience firsthand the Stones' nearly mythical journey from outsiders to rock and roll royalty."

"This is not an academic history lesson," Morgan continued. "Crossfire Hurricane allows the viewer to experience the Stones' journey from a unique vantage point."

The Rolling Stones, who are currently in the midst of their 50th anniversary tour, will perform at The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on December 13 and 15.
