Bruce Springsteen has landed on Rolling Stone's list of the best music from 2012. He joins an impressive list of performers from a mix of genres on the 50 Best Songs and Albums of the Year.

The Boss took top honors on the magazine's 50 Best Albums of 2012 list with his most recent release Wrecking Ball. The mag gushed about Springsteen's power and diversity on the release:

"It's Springsteen's most walloping and adventurous release in decades. He and producer Ron Aniello merge the sweep, heft and rumble of the classic E Street sound with modern flourishes: mariachi horns, electronica grace notes and, in the gospel-flavored 'Rocky Ground', a rapped verse nearly as stirring as Springsteen's chorus courtesy of Michelle Moore, a previously unknown backing vocalist."

Alternative and rock artists made a major impact on both charts including Jack White, Mumford & Sons, the Lumineers, Smashing Pumpkins, Alabama Shakes and Muse.
