Apple Inc. (AAPL) is rising 0.53 percent to $512.48. The company announced that it sold over two million of its new iPhone 5 in China, after its launch on December 14. iPhone 5 will be available in more than 100 countries by the end of the month.
Enzon Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ENZN) is rising 11 percent to $5.08. The company announced a review of the possible sale or disposition of one or more corporate assets, or a sale of the company. Based on clinical data on the androgen receptor program, the company plans to suspend clinical development with a goal to conserve capital and maximize value returned to shareholders.
Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (LXRX) is up 10 percent to $2.06 based on the news that it has received a Fast Track status from the FDA for the development of LX1033.
Decliners:
Headwaters Inc. (HW) is down nearly 4 percent to $7.02. The company announced a public offering of 7.6 million shares of its common stock.
Clearwire Corp. (CLWR) is down 9 percent to $3.07. Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire approximately 50 percent stake in Clearwire it does not currently own for $2.97 per share. Last week, Sprint offered to buy Clearwire shares at $2.90 per share. S is up nearly 2 percent to $5.65.
Trading halt:
Trading in shares of Tranzyme Pharma (TZYM) was halted. The company announced that it is discontinuing and immediately ending patient enrollment in DIGEST, a Phase 2b trial in diabetic patients receiving TZP-102 for the management of symptoms of gastroparesis, due to insufficient efficacy.
