Kate Winslet received an out-of-this-world wedding present from eccentric billionaire and new uncle-in-law, Sir Richard Branson. Winslet was presented with a free ticket to outer space on Branson's Virgin Galactic space cruise, which is set to launch next year. The tickets for the 2-hour flight which will take people 60 miles above Earth, where they will experience the loss of gravity, and also see the planet's curve, costs roughly $200,000.
The "Titanic" star was presented with the ticket as a wedding gift after she married Branson's nephew, Ned RocknRoll, earlier this month. RocknRoll, 34, works part time for his uncle's Virgin Galactic.
The space ticket was also a thank you gift to Winslet who had rescued Sir Richard's mother Eve from a fire on his Necker Island retreat last year. In September Sir Richard said: "I'm not sure she wants to go on a one-way trip to Mars, but she wants to go into space."
More than 530 people have already bought pricey tickets including comedian Russell Brand, actor Ashton Kutcher and science genius Stephen Hawking who also received a free ride courtesy of Branson.
