Doors Drummer John Densmore To Release Tell-All Memoir

John Densmore, former drummer for the Doors, is set to released a memoir, The Doors: Unhinged - Jim Morrison's Legacy Goes on Trial, documenting his legal battles with surviving members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger.

An official press release explains that the book will show how Densmore "weathered betrayals by his 'musical family,' character assassinations, and the rising fear that he would lose everything in his efforts to stand up for what he believed in."

According to the drummer, he wanted to uphold the band's philosophy of not selling out by using its music for advertisements. Densmore accuses his fellow bandmates ("the one who wears glasses and plays keyboards") of attempting to soil that legacy.

The Doors: Unhinged - Jim Morrison's Legacy Goes on Trial is due April 17 via Amazon.com's CreateSpace and Kindle Direct publishing platforms.
