French automaker Renault SA (NSANY.PK) has initiated the recall of about 60,000 cars imported into China for rectification of a fuel sensor fault, according to the local media citing the China General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Saturday.
Media citing China's consumer quality watchdog said the cars imported into mainland China were found to have problems with fuel level sensors and have started the recall of 61,508 Koleos sports utility vehicles since Thursday. The fuel level sensors on the cars identified are likely to fail in providing correct readings after long periods of use and are not safe to use. The necessary changes to correct the fault would be carried out free of cost by Renault (RNO.PA).
The vehicles recalled were produced between December 16, 2008 and July 10, 2012, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement.
Earlier last month, the Chinese consumer watchdog revealed the recall of over 5,000 Koleos SUVs over problems related to welding in the lower front swing arm of the vehicle.
Renault closed Friday at 43.60 euro, down 0.52 euro or 1.18% on the NYSE Euronext Paris Exchange.
