Medical Helicopter Crashes In OKC Killing Two

A medical helicopter crashed on Friday in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, leaving two flight crew members dead and a third crew member in critical condition, according to local news source, KOCO.

The EagleMed helicopter, a Eurocopter AS-350, had taken off from Integris Baptist Medical Center and was going to Watonga to pick up a patient when it crashed about 5:40 a.m., Oklahoma City fire Deputy Chief Marc Woodard told the station.

Three nurses from St. Ann's Nursing Home nearby rushed to help. They, along with several people passing by, pulled the hospitalized third crew member from the wreckage just before an explosion. According to KWTV, one person on the ground was injured while helping. That person's condition is not known.

Currently, investigators are looking into the cause of the crash. The medical examiner's office, Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation and Safety Board officials are all involved in the investigation.
