Carlos Santana Reuniting With Original Santana Group

Carlos Santana is reuniting with the remaining members of his original band for a new record. The guitarist, whose reunion with Neal Schon (Journey) was unveiled last week, told Vintage Vinyl News, that except for bassist David Brown, who died in 2000, "pretty much" everyone else was confirmed.

"As well as Neal we have the two Mikes, Mike Carabello and Michael Shrieve. I am pretty sure Gregg [Rolie]'s going to do it. So that is pretty much everyone."

The one notable exclusion is Jose "Chepito" Areas, who played with Santana until 1980. The entire line-up played together on every album but one, 1971's Santana III.

Santana says that the new record, which he expects to have an African feel to it, will be out in 2014.
