International Airlines Group (IAG.L) said Tuesday that its traffic in February slid 2.4 percent from a year ago, mainly as Spain's Iberia cabin crew and ground employees' unions went on strike for five days.
The Group's traffic, or revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), slid 2.4 percent in February to 11.7 billion RPK from about 12 billion RPK in the same month a year ago. At Iberia, RPK plunged 20.6 percent from last year, while British Airways was up 5.3 percent.
Group capacity measured in Available Seat Kilometres (ASK) for February was down 4.4 percent at 15.57 billion ASK, compared with 16.3 billion ASK last year.
Meanwhile, passenger load factor in February improved to 75.2 percent from 73.6 percent in the prior year.
The airline carried a total of 3.6 million passengers in February, up 1.4 percent from last year.
