Sweden's trade surplus increased in March from a year ago as the decline in imports outpaced the fall in exports, Statistics Sweden reported Friday.

Exports fell 14 percent annually to SEK 91.8 billion, while imports plunged 16 percent to SEK 85 billion in March.

The trade surplus totaled SEK 6.8 billion compared to SEK 4.8 billion surplus a year ago. The March figure was also higher than February' SEK 6.7 billion surplus.

Seasonally adjusted, the net trade surplus increased to SEK 7.4 billion in March from SEK 7.1 billion in February.
