Sending humans to Mars is looking like more of a possibility, according to NASA.

Hope that this journey might actually be successful follows the large rover Curiosity, the robotic space probe mission to Mars that launched in November of 2011. Curiosity landed successfully, and gave a boost of confidence to space advocates that humans can, too.

A possible time frame for the travel is set for two decades from now in 2030.

NASA has "overcome the technical challenges of landing and operating spacecraft on Mars" robotically. We're developing today the technologies needed to send humans to Mars in the 2030s," an official told the Washington Post.

A super lift rocket and a new space capsule would need to be built. New propulsion equipment and spacewalking gear as well as the first model of the Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle called Orion are also needed, Florida Today reports.

NASA planners and scientists among others, met Monday at a conference at George Washington University to discuss the human destiny to Mars.
