The number of persons singing-up for job-seekers' allowance in Ireland decreased for the third consecutive month in April, data released by the Central Statistics Office showed Wednesday.
The number of persons on the live register, on an unadjusted basis, decreased to 417,593 in April from 425,088 March, marking the third decline in a row. Compared to April 2012, the live register total decreased by 2.9 percent.
The number of long-term claimants on the register advanced 1.1% percent year-on-year to 186,086 during the month, while the number of short-term claimants decreased by 5.9 percent. The number of casual and part-time workers on the register was higher by 0.5 percent compared to a year earlier.
Meanwhile, the standardized unemployment rate in Ireland remained unchanged month-on-month at 14 percent in April. The latest figure was, however, lower than 14.9 percent recorded a year earlier, data showed, data showed.
