Norway's unemployment rate stayed unchanged from the previous month in April, and matched economists' expectations, latest data showed Friday.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment came in at 2.6 percent in April, unchanged from that recorded in March, the Norwegian Labor and Welfare Administration said.

The latest figure matched economists' expectations. A year earlier, the jobless rate was 2.5 percent.

The number of unemployed persons in the country dropped to 68,655 in April from 69,969 in the previous month. Compared to April 2012, however, unemployment increased by 3 percent, data showed.
