Looking back, Todd Rundgren does not regret selling off his production points on Meat Loaf's classic album Bat Out Of Hell. The album has been certified platinum over 14 times in the U.S. alone.

"The actual number is contested, although it's generally considered to be in the top five-selling albums of all time," Rundgren tells The Guardian.

"I don't actually collect royalties for it any more. I decided to opt out - I wanted to move to Kauai and get this particular piece of property. So I offered my points to Meat Loaf and Sony and said: 'Just buy me out.' They did, and that's why I'm living in Kauai right now. And I've never regretted that decision."

Rundgren adds that he never made that kind of money again:

"My very first royalty check was for three quarters of a million. I haven't seen one like it since."
