Bruce Springsteen has teamed up with the Dropkick Murphys on a new single to raise funds for the Boston Marathon bombing victims. The song, a re-recording of the Murphys' "Rose Tattoo," will be released via iTunes this week.
"Bruce actually called us up the day of the bombing and asked what he could do to help," DM guitarist James Lynch told Springsteen fan site Backstreets. "We didn't have to reach out. He was there for us."
Murphys' guitarist Tim Brennan famously proposed to his girlfriend from the stage at a Springsteen show in 2009.
The Boss has a track record collaborating with punk musicians, having worked with punk icon Patti Smith on the song "Because the Night." He also wrote "Hungry Heart for the Ramones, but decided to keep it on the advice of his manager.
