Experian plc. (EXPN.L), the global information services company, announced Monday that it has agreed to divest the market research services or SMR business of Sinotrust International Information & Consulting (Beijing) Co. in China to WPP.
The divestment is subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
The company said that the divestment of SMRwill further tighten the strategic focus of Experian Marketing Services in the Asia Pacific region. SMR's activities principally consist of providing automotive clients with custom market research.
Experian noted that it will continue to focus on building multi-channel marketing activities in China and retains Sinotrust's business information services in China. SMR revenues for the year ended 31 March 2013 were US$41 million or RMB 255 million.
