Newt Gingrich wants the help of the public in coming up with a new name for the smartphones that have changed human interaction.

Gingrich asked the public what it should be re-named as via a YouTube video he made. In the video he says, "Think about it. If it is taking pictures, it's not a cell phone. If it has a McDonald's app to tell you where McDonald's is based on your GPS location — that's not a cellphone. If you can get Wikipedia or go to Google — that's not a cell phone. If you can watch YouTube — that's not a cell phone. Or Netflix," Gingrich says in the video as he holds up his iPhone. "This device is something new and different. I have been calling it a handheld computer," ABC News reports.

In regards to calling the phone a handheld computer, he additionally said, "Its real power is not internal computation, its real power is networking," ABC News reports. He does not believe the common name, "smart phone" truly fits the device either. He said, "It's not a smarter way to make phone calls."

Gingrich said he wants his fans and viewers help in figuring out what to call the phone, because it will change: "how we solve problems" and "how we work government." He also said it's "…a great health device" and "it's a great learning device," ABC News reports.
