Nicki Minaj is on the cover of the latest edition of Teen Vogue. The American Idol judge offers up her take on a number of issues for the mag's readers, including the true nature of the music biz.
"People treat this business like its high school," the singer explained. "It can absolutely feel like one big popularity contest, and you know what? I can't be bothered."
"I can't allow myself to play ridiculous games with grown adults in the industry," Minaj continued. "I can't be nice to someone just because they're hot right now. I can't do it."
Minaj also offered up some advice on how to deal with criticism and negativity via social media. Minaj, who has 17 million Twitter followers, said: "I used to read the bad things people said about me. Then I asked myself, 'Why am I reading that when I have millions of people saying great things?' You cannot give negativity power."
