Keith Urban had some fun on Ellen earlier this week when asked about fellow American Idol judge Randy Jackson's decision to depart the show after twelve seasons.
He began by teasing the audience into thinking that he was about to reveal who Jackson's replacement would be - but instead he said: "Of course Randy's leaving, as he said. And I'm here to announce that I'm gonna be replacing Randy, which is fantastic."
Urban then said in a more serious tone, "[Jackson is] a beautiful part of that whole institution of American Idol."
In other Idol news, fellow judge Nicki Minaj may also be on her way off the show. According to Us Weekly, an insider has been quoted as saying, "It's safe to say she isn't coming back . . . She's okay with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway."
