The Reuters/University of Michigan's preliminary report on U.S. consumer consumer confidence for May is expected at 9:55 am ET Friday. Ahead of the data, the greenback advanced against other major currencies.
At 9:50 am ET, the greenback traded at 102.61 against the yen, 1.2813 against the euro, 1.5188 against the pound and 0.9725 against the franc.
