Janet Jackson has opened up about her plans for a new album during a recent interview with Essence. According to Janet, the release will break some new musical ground.

"I am working on a new project now," she said. "We are creating the concept and initial thought on the music. I am excited about the direction we are taking. I don't want to rush it . . . I don't want to put a time constraint on the creative process."

As far as influences for the new release, Janet says she turned to newer artists.

"I'm really enjoying what Bruno Mars and Adele are doing, a lot of artistry there," she said.

She also took time dispel rumors about a lavish wedding with her new hubby Wissam al Mana:

"The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true. Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony," Jackson said.
