Sergeant Michael McClendon, a member of the staff at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, has been charged with filming naked female cadets without their consent between 2009 and 2012.

In all, McClendon faces 35 counts of impropriety that include indecent acts, dereliction in the performance of duty, cruelty and maltreatment and actions prejudicial to good order and discipline.

The names of the cadets have not been released, and the women are said to be cooperating with the investigation.

"Once notified of the violation, a full investigation was launched, followed by swift action to correct the problem. Our cadets must be confident that issues such as these are handled quickly and decisively, and that our system will hold those responsible accountable," Gen. John F. Campbell, the Army vice chief of staff, said in a statement.

McClendon, who joined the army in 1990 as a combat engineer, has been reassigned to Fort Drum for the duration of the investigation.
