Jewel is set to star as Johnny Cash's wife, June Carter, in the made-for-television movie Ring Of Fire, a film centered around her life and career before and during her marriage to the Man in Black, as portrayed by Matt Ross (American Horror Story).
"It was a gritty role," Jewel told Taste of Country.
"It has a lot of music in it, but it also deals a lot with the psychological repercussions of being with an addict and what being a co-dependent means to her, and a lot of tougher issues."
Ring Of Fire is based on the book, Anchored in Love: an Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash, written by John Carter Cash. It begins with her Virginia upbringing and carries on through her often rocky relationship with Cash.
