Ralph Rubi, a Phoenix, Arizona man, was arrested on charges of endangerment after police say that he shined a laser pointer at a police helicopter. Authorities say that they found the device used in his home, reports AZ Family.

Speaking with the news source, police pilot John Meche, who was not involved with the Rubi case, knows what it's like to have a laser pointer directed at him in flight:

"The entire cockpit is lit up. You cannot see anything while it's coming through."

"Why would you want to endanger the lives of the people trying to help you and people on the ground?" he asked.

Rubi, according to KPHO, is also a suspect in a previous incident involving a helicopter landing at Phoenix Children's Hospital.

It was the second incident to occur in the course of the day, as police say they were targeted by another laser pointer earlier in the morning. No arrest was made in that case, according to AZ Central.
