The U.S. Labor Department said its weekly jobless claims eased 346,000 in the weekended June 01 from previous week's revised increase of 357,000. Economists had expected the claims to ease to 345,000 in the weekended June 01 from 354,000 originally reported in the previous week.
The US dollar held steady against its major counterparts after the report. As of 8:32 am ET, the greenback was trading at 1.3110 against the euro, 99.06 against the yen, 0.9420 against the Swiss franc and 1.5449 against the pound.
