Finland's industrial production declined for a sixth consecutive month in April, the latest figures from Statistics Finland showed Monday.
Output of total industries adjusted for working days decreased 9.7 percent year-on-year in April. This followed a 1.1 percent fall in March. In the first four months of the year, output fell 5.1 percent compared to the same period last year.
The statistical office, meanwhile, noted that the numbers were somewhat distorted by the timing of Easter in both 2012 and 2013.
Seasonally adjusted output fell 4.6 percent between March and April. The statistical office also reported that capacity utilization rate in manufacturing was 82.7 percent in April, 0.4 percentage points higher than last year.
Separately, the statistical office reported that the value of new orders in manufacturing decreased 2 percent year-on-year in April. In January-April period, orders decreased 8.1 percent compared to same period last year.
New orders have been falling steadily since December 2012. The year-on-year decline in new orders in March was 11.2 percent.
In another report, Statistics Finland said that the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy rose 1.7 percent in February-April compared to the same period a year earlier. In April alone, wages and salaries grew 3.1 percent year-on-year.
