Tracey Ullman is in talks to join the Rob Marshall film adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical "Into the Woods," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The plot centers on a childless baker and his wife as they attempt to lift a family curse by going into the enchanted woods to confront the witch that cast the spell on them.

During their titular trip, the family meets a host of characters from fairy tales including Rapunzel, Cinderella, Jack from Jack the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf.

Should she sign, Ullman will join a top-flight cast, including Meryl Streep (the Witch), Johnny Depp (the Wolf), Chris Pine (Rapunzel's Prince), Jake Gyllenhaal (Cinderella's Prince) and Emily Blunt. Ullman would play Jack's mother.

"Into the Woods" begins shooting in London this September. James Lapine, who wrote the book upon which Sondheim based his play, is working on the screenplay.
