Melissa McCarthy decided to take the high road and respond in a mature way after the recent comments made by Rex Reed in a movie review of McCarthy's latest film, "Identity Theft."

Reed described McCarthy in the review as "hippo," "tractor-sized" and called her "a gimmick comedian who has devoted her short career to being obese and obnoxious with equal success."

McCarthy later spoke with The New York Times about the rude review that she received: "Really?" McCarthy said after she read the review. "Why would someone O.K. that?" she said.

The "Bridesmaids" star chose not to mention the author's name who wrote the article, but instead focused mainly on her success and happiness:

"I felt really bad for someone who is swimming in so much hate," she said to the paper. "I just thought, that's someone who's in a really bad spot, and I am in such a happy spot. I laugh my head off every day with my husband and my kids who are mooning me and singing me songs."
