McDonald's has decided to pull two of its food items off the menu following a lawsuit against the fast-food restaurant.
The Detroit Free Press reports that two separate McDonald's in Dearborn, Michigan were aiming to serve to its large Arab-American Muslim population by serving food items known as Halal Chicken McNuggets and Halal McChicken.
The two food items were removed last month after a lawsuit from 2011 that alleged that the restaurant was selling non-halal chicken and saying that it was Halal, which would require that the meat be prepared according to specific Islamic guidelines.
"Those items have been discontinued as a result of our continued efforts to focus on our national core menu," a spokesman for McDonald's said on Friday.
McDonald's reached a $700,000 settlement back in April with the Huda Clinic, the Arab American National Museum and to a man from Dearborn Heights that had initially filed the lawsuit.
The company will continue to sell its halal food in Muslim-majority countries.
