Earth, Wind & Fire are back with "My Promise," their first single in eight years, taken off their forthcoming album Now, Then & Forever. "'My Promise,' it's a great song," co-founder Verdine White tells Rolling Stone. "Straight down the middle, Earth, Wind and Fire. No question about it."
A statement to which original member Philip Bailey responded, "We put in a sincere attempt to be and do Earth, Wind and Fire the way people have come to know and love it, to rediscover the essence of what that is."
Now, Then & Forever, set to be released on September 10, is the band's first release in eight years, since 2005's Illumination.
Earth, Wind and Fire will play at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu on August 3rd.
