Coldplay have released a new song called "Atlas." The track, which hit August 26, is the first the band has ever recorded for a motion picture and will appear as the official lead single on the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Tracy McKnight, Lionsgate's Head of Film Music, said: "We are so honored that Coldplay, one of the iconic rock bands of our generation, will perform the first song out on the new soundtrack."
The film will be released on November 22.
The song will not be included on the band's upcoming sixth album, of which frontman Chris Martin said in an interview last November with Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "I've been writing songs and I'm so fired up about the band's future."
