A New Jersey medical marijuana facility is set to open up shop in the community of Bellmawr in Camden County.
The Star-Ledger reports that the Compassionate Sciences dispensary, which is also known as an "alternative treatment center," is the second and final of the two medical marijuana dispensaries sanctioned by the state to serve registered patients in South Jersey.
"This will be one of the most highly-regulated businesses in New Jersey," said Frank Filipek, Mayor of Bellmawr. "Our community supports those in need and welcomes a healthcare facility that will help relieve pain and suffering while also creating jobs."
The Compassionate Care Foundation also has permission to grow the drug and plans to open up shop at the end of September.
"We are delighted to begin work on a new part of the State's healthcare system in Belmawr — it's a great community," said Will Statter, chairman of the Compassionate Science's dispensary's board and executive director. "Many patients need access to this program and we will do all we can to open the doors as soon as possible."
