UroLift system, developed by NeoTract Inc., a privately held medical device company, has received market clearance from FDA to treat urinary symptoms related to enlarged prostate.
Prostate gland enlargement, also called benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH, obstructs the flow of urine and can lead to serious urinary symptom over time.
Surgical procedure or drugs like Proscar, Propecia, Avodart, Jalyn and Cialis, to name a few, are the current treatment options to relieve symptoms associated with BPH.
UroLift system becomes the first permanent implant to relieve low or blocked urine flow in men aged 50 and older with an enlarged prostate and provides a less invasive alternative to treating BPH than surgery, according to the FDA.
