Distribution and outsourcing group Bunzl Plc (BZLFY.PK,BNZL.L) reported acquiring Lamedid Comercial e Servicos Ltda in Brazil.
Lamedid, based near São Paulo, is mainly engaged in the supply and distribution across Brazil of own label medical and healthcare consumable products to hospitals, clinics and laboratories as well as to distributors. Revenue in 2013 totaled R$48.3 million or about 12 million pounds.
Commenting on the transaction, Bunzl's Chief Executive said: "The purchase of Lamedid has significantly increased the size of our healthcare business in Brazil, having entered the healthcare sector there with the acquisition of Labor Import last year. The two businesses complement each other and together will enable us to extend our product offering in this important market."
