The U.S. government announced late Friday it would relinquish oversight of the Internet's domain-naming system to a non-government entity.
VeriSign Inc. (VRSN), which offers domain name registry services, gapped open sharply lower Monday and sank in early trade, before settling into a range. The stock closed down by 3.17 at $51.68 on the highest volume of the year. VeriSign closed testing the lower end of over a 1-month range, but fell below its 200-day moving average.
