At 5.30 am ET Wednesday, the Bank of England's minutes of the monetary policy meeting in March and U.K. labor market statistics for February are due.
The claimant count is forecast to decline by 25,000 in February after falling 27,600 in January. The ILO jobless rate is seen at 7.2 percent in three months to January.
Ahead of these releases, the pound climbed against other major currencies.
The pound was quoted at 1.6629 against the greenback, 0.8369 against the euro, 1.4547 against the franc and 169.00 against the yen at 5:25 am ET.
